I didn’t ask for any of this…
When Allan was little, he dreamed of being a footballer. But in “Brutal Bootle”, that hope was quickly knocked down.
God stayed at arm’s length too. Until his future mother-in-law insisted church was part of dating the lovely Joyce.
So he went along.
I didn’t ask for any of this…
Especially not becoming the church minister. But when a throwaway comment landed Allan on the stage of a comedy club,
everything changed. He found his calling. Somewhere he could make a difference. Something he was good at.
So good that he ended up on Britain’s Got Talent.
I didn’t ask for any of this…
Especially not the terminal cancer diagnosis.

‘A builder, a comedian and a Baptist minister go into a bar…and they’re all the same person. This story will encourage anyone who is suspicious of organised religion, especially if they have a sneaky feeling that the truth might be better served by disorganised religion.’
Milton Jones, Comedian
‘Profound, humorous and deeply moving, this book is a must read for anyone exploring what it means to have a faith or asking if there is more to life. Allen’s personal story is challenging, encouraging and inspiring, often all on the same page!’
Gavin Calver, CEO, Evangelical Alliance

First and foremost I’m a husband, dad, grandad and Liverpool fan. Not just the football club but the city as well. It’s a great, friendly place to live.
I’m not really sure I can call myself an author because this will most probably be my only publication. At the time of writing this I have been give 2-3 months to live so probably haven’t got the time to finish a second book. I do have many more stories that didn’t make the book and maybe I’ll release them on social media. Who knows
I’ve had a varied career, from building sites, to Baptist minister. Standup comedian and somehow stared on Britains Got Talent in 2020. I am hoping this book will be my legacy.
